The Hope of Christ's Return (Titus 2:13)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10-26-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  The hope of Christ’s return

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Titus 2:13

Message of the verse:  “13 waiting for the blessed hope and manifestation of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ,”  (YLT)  “while we look forward to that wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.”  “Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus (NASB).”

This verse speaks of the grace of God, which is what Paul has been writing about in these last few verses.  This aspect of grace is that it rewards us with the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ.  The verse speaks of the “blessed hope and manifestation of the glory.”  I am reminded of the glory of the Lord in other places of the Scriptures like in the book of Exodus and also in the book of Ezekiel where the glory of the Lord is seen leaving the temple to return again when the Lord Jesus Christ was made manifest to the world at His birth.  When the Lord returns at His second coming His glory will return to the earth in a wonderful way for all to see.  He will return with His saints as described in Revelation nineteen.  This event is also the hope of all believers and the word hope is not a verb, but a noun.  It is not a wish, but something that is certain.  This verse also shows that the Lord Jesus Christ is truly God as the phrase “our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” speaks of.  As Dr. Warren Wiersbe points out that there is only one article in this phrase proving the deity of Jesus Christ. This verse also speaks of the hope of the rapture, the taking away of the saints from the church age to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thess. 4:13-18).

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  This verse puts into perspective the phrase that “this world is not my home; I’m just a passing through.”  This world is for my training for all of the wonderful things of eternity that God has planned for me, and all of his children.  This is a wonderful verse and a wonderful hope of the certain return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Word of God was a blessing to me today!

My Steps of Faith Today:  I want to know the Lord better today, and as I get to know Him then I am sure that I will not have such a great fear of life, but fear the Lord in a more biblical way.

Memory verse for the week:  Romans 11:33

Oh, the debt of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
