The Grace of God and Salvation (Titus 3:6-7)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 11-05-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  God’s grace and salvation

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Titus 3:6-7

Message of the verse:  “6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”  (NAS95)  “He generously poured out the Spirit upon us because of what Jesus Christ our Savior did.  He declared us not guilty because of His great kindness.  And now we know that we will inherit eternal life.”  (NLT)

As the NLT brings out in verse six that it is Jesus Christ who has generously poured out the Holy Spirit upon us because of what Christ did for us on the cross.  At the moment of salvation a believer receives the Holy Spirit to live within Him and He is the down payment of the good things that God will give to the believer.  The NAS95 says in verse seven that the believer is justified by His grace so that we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.  The word justified is a legal term and it is the central truth of salvation. It means that the believer has been declared not guilty and is imputed with the righteousness of Christ because of the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross.  Now the believer is an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ and has the hope of eternal life (hope being a noun and not a verb).

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Because of these wonderful truths is it any wonder that I as a believer in Jesus Christ should offer myself as a living sacrifice to Him which is holy and acceptable worship to God.  I do this each day, or at least try to remember to do this, because a sacrifice that is living sometimes moves off the altar.

The Word of God causes me to worship the Lord today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To trust the Lord with all my heart and not to lean on my own understanding and in all my ways acknowledge Him and He will personally guide my path.

Memory verses for the week:  Romans 11:33-35:  Oh, the debt of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out. For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor? Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to Him?
