Submit to Rulers (Titus 3:1)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 10-29-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  Submit to Rulers

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Titus 3:1

Message of the verse:  “1 Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed,”  (NAS95)  “1 Remind your people to submit to the government and its officers.  They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good.”

Paul writes to Titus about obeying those who are over them in the government.  He says that believers should obey the government officials.  The only time this is not to be done is when the laws of the land go against the laws of the Lord.  Also it is good to be reminded that the government at the time of this writing was the Roman government.  There were very many slaves at this time as this was legal.  The government was not friendly to the cause of Christ, but even this type of rule is better than no rule at all.  He goes on to say that believers should be ready to do what is good.  They should be the first to help those in need.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  There are times when I do not like the leaders that are over me, but I do need to obey them and pray for them too.  I also need to remember to help those in need as best that I can.

The Word of God was convicting to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:    I need to continue to realize that God is in control and that I am to worship Him at all times especially when things do not go well in my life.  I want to trust the Lord to cause me to feel well enough to do the work at the church today with the WEBBS team.

Memory verses for the week:  Romans 11:33,34

Oh, the debt of the riches of both the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!  For who has known the mind of the Lord?  And who has become His counselor”
