The Kindness of God (Titus 3:4)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 11-01-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  God’s Kindness

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Titus 3:4

Message of the verse:  “4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,” (NASB95) “But then God our Savior showed us His kindness and love.”  (NLT)

Paul is contrasting the awfulness of sinful man in the previous verse with the kindness and graciousness of God in this verse.  He again mentions the term God our Savior in this verse as he did in 1Timothy 2:3.  All three persons of the godhead are involved in the salvation of man, and all are mentioned in this section of this letter.  (Verses 4-7)  One might ask what is the kindness of God?  The kindness of God was certainly the Lord Jesus Christ for without His birth, life, and death on the cross there would be no salvation to give to anyone.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  There are far too many times when I miss seeing the kindness of God and attribute it to something else, either myself or the goodness of others.  God is kind to me each and every day and I praise Him for His kindness.

The Word of God did bring conviction to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Not to have any fear when we go out to eat this evening with our friends.  To be able, by God’s grace, to speak to them about the Lord.

Memory verses for the week:  Romans 11:33-34 “Oh, the debt of the riches of both the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out.

For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?”
