SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 03-08-04
My Worship Time Focus: Keep your spiritual eyes open
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: 2Peter 1:9
Message
of the verse: “For he who lacks
these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification
from his former sins.” (NASB) “Without these qualities you can’t see what’s
right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.” (Message)
The next
item that spiritual growth brings is that of being able to see
spiritually. Peter is writing that
believers need to be in tuned with understand and see the things that God has
already done for them and then they can move onto things that He is doing for
them know. They will have eyes of
faith. Moses spoke of this in Deu.
29: “2 And Moses summoned all Israel and
said to them, ‘You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land
of Egypt to Pharaoh and all his servants and all his land; 3 the great trials
which your eyes have seen, those great signs and wonders. 4 ‘Yet to this day
the LORD has not given you a heart to know, nor eyes to see, nor ears to
hear.’” Moses said in verse four that it
is the Lord who did not give them eyes to see nor ears to hear, nor a heart to
know.
Spiritual
Meaning for my life today: It is God
who give sight to the blind, and it is God who has caused me to see the truth
of the Gospel, and then gave me faith to cry out to Him in repentance and ask
for forgiveness through Jesus Christ my Lord.
Not as I go onward in my walk with the Lord it is also God who has to
continue to open my eyes to see those works that He has prepared for me to do
in advance. The verse in Psalm 119 that
I pray before opening God’s Word asks that God would open my eyes that I may
behold wondrous things out of His Law.
One more
thing I want to mention and that is that pride will cause me to be blinded and
not see the things that God has for me to see.
The Word of God was again challenging to me as I read it
this afternoon.
My Steps of Faith Today:
To continue to trust in the Lord with all of my heart and not to
lean upon my own understanding, and in all my ways I acknowledge Him so that He
will direct my path. I am not to be wise
in my own eyes, but I am to fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
