PT-2 "This Faith is in a Person" (2 Peter 1:1-2)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 8/4/2017 10:13 PM

My Worship Time                                                             Focus:  PT-2 “This Faith is in a Person”

Bible Reading & Meditation                                                 Reference:  2 Peter 1:1-2

Message of the verses:  “1 Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;”

Dr. Wiersbe talks about the title “Saviour” applies to our Lord Jesus Christ when he writes “He is, indeed, the Great Physician who heals the heart from the sickness of sin.  He is the victorious Conqueror who has defeated our enemies—sin, death, Satan, and hell—and is leading us in triumph (2 Cor. 2:14ff).  He is ‘God and our Saviour’ (1 Pet. 1:1), ‘our Lord and Saviour (2 Peter 2:20).  In order to be our Saviour, He had to give His life on the cross and die for the sins of the world.”

Our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ has three spiritual commodities that we can get from no one else, that is righteousness, grace, and peace.  Now when someone trust Him as their Saviour and Lord they receive His righteousness and because of that our given a right standing before God as seen in 2 Cor. 5:21 “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”  Titus 3:5 tells us that this righteousness can never be earned “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.”

Now grace is God favor that He gives to the undeserving sinner, and God’s mercy does not give us what we deserve, but because of His grace He gives us what we do not deserve.  Now the result of this experience we receive God’s peace, we have, according to Romans 5:1 have peace with God:  “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Philippians 4:6-7 tells us that we not only have the peace with God, but we have the peace of God.  What a wonderful salvation He has provided to those who have entrusted their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation.
