Believers are a Part of the Kingdom and are Priests (Rev. 1:6)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 01/21/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  Believers are part of the kingdom and are priests

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Rev 1:6

Message of the verse: 6 and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.  (NAS95)

6 He has made us his Kingdom and his priests who serve before God his Father. Give to him everlasting glory! He rules forever and ever! Amen!  (NLT)

Each and every believer is a priest before God and is a king, and this is made possible because of God’s love for us in sending His Son to purge our sins on the cross.  1Peter 2:1-10 gives more details about believers being kings and priests before God, and verse nine give details of this:  “9  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”  The word translated royal has the meaning of being a king, and thus believers are kings before God.

The OT priests had to come from a single family of Israel, who were related to Aaron, but when Christ was crucified the wall between the holy place and the Holy of Holies was torn apart so that all true believers can come directly into the presence of God, and thus all believers are priests before God.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  There is much responsibility in being a king and a priest before God, and one of them is to intercede to God on behalf of other believers, and also unbelievers.  As a king and a priest before God, I am to represent God to other.  I guess you could say that I am an ambassador of the kingdom of God while on this earth, and I need to take these responsibilities as a privilege and an honor, and continue to learn and grow in God’s love, and grace so that I can do this job that He has called me to do.

The Word of God has been very challenging to my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Trust in the Lord to give me the power and the knowledge to represent Him to others he leads into my life.
