The Theme (Rev. 1:8)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 01/26/2005

My Worship Time                                                                              Focus:  The Theme

Bible Reading & Meditation                                             Reference:  Rev 1:8

Message of the verse:  8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.  (AV)  8 The Master declares, "I’m A to Z. I’m THE GOD WHO IS, THE GOD WHO WAS, AND THE GOD ABOUT TO ARRIVE. I’m the Sovereign-Strong."  (MESSAGE)

I believe that this verse is referring to God the Father, however later on there is a similar verse which does refer to Jesus Christ.  John is writing that God is everything that is needed and that one day He will come and have direct fellowship with His children.  I believe that the only way that His children can see Him is to be in a glorified state, or otherwise they would die when they were in God’s presence.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I believe that verse 8 could be the text for a whole sermon because there is so much meaning in the statement of being the “Alpha and Omega,” but one thing that I can get out of this verse is that God is truly everything that I will ever need or will ever want.  It is also true that this is at times difficult to get into perspective on a daily basis.

The Word of God was a challenge to my heart, and it was also refreshing to my soul.

My Steps of Faith For Today:  To continue to trust that the Lord is in control of all of the things that are happening at this job that He has called me to work at.
