My Worship Time                                                 Focus:  Abraham ministers to his Wife

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  Genesis 18:9-15

            Message of the verse:  “9 Then they said to him, ‘Where is Sarah your wife?’ And he said, ‘There, in the tent.’  10 He said, ‘I will surely return to you at this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.’ And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him.  11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; Sarah was past childbearing.  12 Sarah laughed to herself, saying, ‘After I have become old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?’  13 And the LORD said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, when I am so old?’  14 ‘Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.’  15 Sarah denied it however, saying, ‘I did not laugh’; for she was afraid. And He said, ‘No, but you did laugh.’”

           

            There were two reasons that the Lord came to earth, and one of them was to announce to Abraham and Sarah that they would become parents of a boy in a year, and the other reason was to destroy two cities.

           

            God had promised Abraham and Sarah as son when they left their homeland many years before, but as of yet they had no son other than the one by the slave woman, who would not fit into the plans of God to bring the promised Messiah into the world, but the son given to Abraham and Sarah would be used by God to set in motion the way for His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come into the world.  I believe that it was the preincarnate Christ who was the One who gave the message to Abraham and Sarah.

           

            Sarah began to laugh in her heart that this could become true, and under ordinary circumstances this surely would be something to laugh about, however this was the creator of the universe who was talking to her husband and He can do whatever He wants to do whenever He wants to do it. God is faithful even when we are not and this is brought out in 2Timothy 2:13 “13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.” 

           

            Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God says that He is faithful even when I am not faithful, and that means that God has a plan and when He wants me to be to be involved in His plans and I am not willing to be He will get it done without me, however I want to be used by the Lord to fulfill the plans He has for me to do.

The Word of God has been a challenge to my heart along with being a conviction to my heart as I read and studied His Word this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  I would like to say that I have enough faith to pick up Bruce Baker and go to the funeral of Karen’s father, but once again IBS keeps me from doing the things that I want and the things that I should do and it shames me.
