It Is Israel's Land (Gen. 15:18-21)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 07-14-2006

My Worship Time                                                                                   Focus:  The Land

Bible Reading & Meditation                                   Reference:  Genesis 15:18-21

Message of the verse:  “18  On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, ‘To your descendants I have given this land, From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates:  19  the Kenite and the Kenizzite and the Kadmonite  20  and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Rephaim 21  and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite.’”

The promise that is given to Abraham has not totally been fulfilled to the people of Israel.  The closest it was come to is when Solomon ruled Israel, but the promise is still a promise that God will keep even though at times it does not seem possible, for one day Jesus Christ will return to this earth that He has made and will reign from His seat in Jerusalem for 1000 years over all of the earth and Israel will receive her land at that time.  A study of the last nine chapters of Ezekiel shows much of this prophecy.

In May of 1948 Israel became a nation again and in June of 1967 the got control of the city of Jerusalem again and to this day they have control of part of the land that God had promised.  From the time in 586 BC until May of 1948 Israel did not control any of the land, and even today they are still fighting with their neighbors, who are their enemies to hang on to this land that God promised to them.  Verses 18-21 give a description of where the boundaries of the land are and also the promise of God to give it to them.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God will always keep the promises that He makes, and the promises to me as a believer are found in the pages of the Bible, and because I am “in Christ” they will all be fulfilled.  Among them are having eternal life and so some day I will be with my Lord Jesus Christ throughout all of eternity, to even rule and reign with Him during His Kingdom reign.  Jesus said that He will never leave me nor forsake me, and there are many times when I feel like Job, but I know that He will never leave me nor forsake me.

The Word of God has been refreshing to me as I read and studied it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to trust the Lord even though these days have been very troublesome to me and also to the members of my family.
