SIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Blessing
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Exodus 1:1-7
Message of the verses: “1 ¶ Now these are the names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob; they came each one with his household: 2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah; 3 Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin; 4 Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
5 All the persons who came from the loins of Jacob were seventy in number, but Joseph was already in Egypt . 6 Joseph died, and all his brothers and all that generation. 7 But the sons of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly, and multiplied, and became exceedingly mighty, so that the land was filled with them.”
These first seven verses kind of give a brief review of family who came to Egypt , the family of Jacob who would become the nation of Israel . There are a couple of things that I want to bring out in this section: The word now in the Hebrew is the word “and,” which makes the story from Genesis continued, and the Hebrew word translated names is actually the word Shem, and Shem was the son of Noah from where the Israelites came from.
God has promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob a huge number of descendents and at the time of this writing there were probably close to two million Israelites in Egypt . The other promises that God gave to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 will begin to unfold as the rest of the OT continues calumniating with the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I can see the blessings of God in this section for in this section the promises of God are kept, so I can believe that the Lord will keep His promises to me too.
My Steps of Faith for Today: Act like I am a pilgrim while living on this earth, for this earth is not my home I am only passing through here on my way to live with my Lord Jesus Christ someday.
Memory verses for the week: Philippians 1:9-11
- And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
- so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;
- having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
