My Worship Time Focus: Conspiracy
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Genesis 37:18-22
Message of the verses: 18 When they saw him from a distance and before he came close to them, they plotted against him to put him to death.
19 They said to one another, "Here comes this dreamer!
20 "Now then, come and let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits; and we will say, ‘A wild beast devoured him.’ Then let us see what will become of his dreams!"
21 But Reuben heard this and rescued him out of their hands and said, "Let us not take his life."
22 Reuben further said to them, "Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but do not lay hands on him"—that he might rescue him out of their hands, to restore him to his father.”
It is not clear who the ring leader was, that is the one who wanted to kill Joseph, however is seems that they all wanted to kill him except Reuben. When Jacob was giving out blessings at the end of his life he actually gave Joseph the first born rights because Reuben had slept with one of his wives. Dr. Wiersbe suggests that it could have been Simeon because of the way that Joseph treated him in Egypt
It was because of the hatred that Joseph’s brothers had for him that they so quickly conspired to kill him and then later decide to sell him as a slave, for the hatred was already at place in their heart because of the envy that was their in their hearts too.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: “ Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” It is because that sin can so easily become a part of my life that I need to has the Spirit of God to search my heart each day. I believe that just as my body needs cleansed from a fast from time to time so does my soul.
My Steps of Faith Today: Begin to pray that God will prepare my heart and also my body to begin to fast at the beginning of the new year.
