God's Goodness

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                  Focus:  God’s goodness

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Genesis 46:28-30

            Message of the verses:  “28 ¶  Now he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to point out the way before him to Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.  29  Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to Goshen to meet his father Israel; as soon as he appeared before him, he fell on his neck and wept on his neck a long time.  30  Then Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive.’”

            I guess that this is the part of the story that I want to get to every time that read over this story, for it is a time when all of Jacob’s family is together again, it is also a time when the dreams that God had given to Joseph some 22+ years ago have now come true.  It is a time of joyful weeping as Jacob gets to see his beloved son again, something that he never thought he would ever do again.  It is a time of God’s great blessing upon this family as He had promised to Abraham, Isaac and to Jacob, proving Himself to be true to His Word.

            This is also a time when Judah is put into the forefront of Jacob’s family, and a little later on Jacob would pronounce that Judah would be the royal tribe, the tribe that the Lord Jesus Christ would come from and be a blessing to the whole earth just as God had promised Abraham way back in Genesis 12:1-3.

            Spiritual meaning for my life today:  As seen by the time on the top of this SD it is later that I usually do my SD, and that is because I did not want to do one today, but it has been a while since I have missed a day, and I believe that this is one of the ways that God speaks to me each day so I did it.  The thought has come into my mind after reading this and also the commentary that Dr. Wiersbe wrote that just as Jacob was blessed after a long wait and just as Joseph was blessed after a long wait that perhaps God will bless my family after waiting for a long time for the investment that Andrew Lech still has.

            The other thing that I see out of this is that God is faithful and will keep His Word, and that is important to me especially during this time when life is tough.

My Steps of Faith for Today:  I want to cry out to God that He keep His promises to me, promises that He has made to all of His children.

Memory verses for the week: Philippians 1:9-11

  1. And this I pray, that you love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
  2. so that you may prove the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;
