SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Pharaoh and Jacob
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Genesis 47:7-10
Message of the verses: “7 Then Joseph brought his father Jacob and presented him to Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. 8 Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How many years have you lived?" 9 So Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The years of my sojourning are one hundred and thirty; few and unpleasant have been the years of my life, nor have they attained the years that my fathers lived during the days of their sojourning." 10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from his presence.”
In this section Jacob blesses Pharaoh two times, at the beginning of the conversation and again at the end, he blesses him in the name of his Lord. There seems to be a bit of complaint on how difficult Jacob’s life has been, yet Jacob’s life was difficult because, like his father and grandfather, he did not have a permanent place to live, but like his father and grandfather and all true believers we are looking for a city whose builder and designer is God.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I too am looking for the city that God is preparing for me, but while on this earth I need to be an ambassador for the Lord Jesus Christ as Jacob was.
My Steps of Faith for Today: Continue to trust the Lord to teach me the things that He wants me to learn that will conform me more and more to the image of Christ through the tests and trials He is sending me through.
Memory verses for the week: Philippians 1:9-11
- And this I pray, that you love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
- so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;
- having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
