SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Step # 4—Drowning the male babies
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Exodus 1:22
Message of the verses: “22 Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, "Every son who is born you are to cast into the Nile , and every daughter you are to keep alive.’”
It is not known how long before this third and final step began, but Pharaoh got all the people of Egypt involved in the hideous plan of his but having them began to drown all the male babies that the children of Israel had. I would suppose since all of the children of Israel were slaves that it was not that hard to watch and see when a woman became pregnant and then to find out if she had a male child or not.
I suppose that one of the reasons that the Egyptians put the babies into the Nile river was because the Nile River was one of their gods that they worshiped. As will be seen latter on in this story God will avenge the blood of these children and will also show the Egyptians that their god was no god at all, and only God was truly God.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I am not sure how long the drowning of these male babies took place for Moses was eighty years old when he began to be use of God to work the ten miracles that ruined the nation of Egypt , but I do not believe it went on that long. The point here is that it did take a long while before all of this stopped and I am sure that many prayers were prayed to God for Him to stop all of this killing, but God is patient and has His plan and nothing can change that.
My Steps of Faith for Today: I must trust God and His plan for my life, knowing that He never makes mistakes and that when hardships come they are used to bring me closer to Him and teach me contentment and also continue to conform me to the image of His dear Son. (Romans 8:29)
Memory verses for the week: Philippians 1:9-11
9. And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
10. so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;
11. having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
