SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  A public offense

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Samuel 10:1-5

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶ Now it happened afterwards that the king of the Ammonites died, and Hanun his son became king in his place. 2 Then David said, "I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me." So David sent some of his servants to console him concerning his father. But when David’s servants came to the land of the Ammonites, 3 the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun their lord, "Do you think that David is honoring your father because he has sent consolers to you? Has David not sent his servants to you in order to search the city, to spy it out and overthrow it?" 4 So Hanun took David’s servants and shaved off half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle as far as their hips, and sent them away. 5 When they told it to David, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly humiliated. And the king said, "Stay at Jericho until your beards grow, and then return.’”

There are times when situations come about in my life that are very difficult for me to handle and then when I open the Word of God I get reassurance that I have done the right thing and this passage is one of them.
I have heard a statement on a number of occasions that that “why is the youth wasted on the young?”  That is the point of this story in that once an older ruler dies and his younger son takes over he at times if he is not to smart will put younger people around him as his advisers and they will give him the wrong information and trouble will soon follow.  Youth is most of the time wasted on the young.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The best thing that I can do about what happened to us yesterday with our family is to pray that the Lord will open their eyes, not because I am right about GBC going in the wrong direction, but so that it would be good for our family, and it would bring glory and honor to the Lord.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Pray.
2.      Trust the Lord to give us wisdom and guide us as to whether or not to take this job offer in Hawaii.
