SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  David takes charge

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Sam. 15:13-16

Message of the verses:  “13 ¶  Then a messenger came to David, saying, "The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom." 14  David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, "Arise and let us flee, for otherwise none of us will escape from Absalom. Go in haste, or he will overtake us quickly and bring down calamity on us and strike the city with the edge of the sword." 15  Then the king’s servants said to the king, "Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses." 16  So the king went out and all his household with him. But the king left ten concubines to keep the house.”

Today’s SD moves into the second main point from Dr. Wiersbe’s commentary and there are three sub-points in this second main point, “David—Israel’s True King,” of which I wish to take the first one this morning and the second two tomorrow, Lord willing.

It was mentioned that David was possibility ill in yesterday’s SD, and that may have been the reason that Absalom could take such advantage in trying to take over the kingdom, but now in this section it shows that if David had been lethargic he was now ready for action.  Dr. Wiersbe points out that “David always did his best during a crisis,” and this was surely a crisis.

David not only did well in a crisis but he also thought of others in order to keep them safe, and so he and his family, and his bodyguards, and those who were close to him would now leave Jerusalem in order to be protected from the forces of Absalom.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It seems that lately there has been some challenges in my life that are hard for me to bare and one thing that I can learn from today’s Scripture is to be good in a crisis, and to trust the Lord in a crisis to led me through safely to the other side, and also to protect those I love and those who depend on me.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Trust the Lord to work out the details of this job, and continue to pray that He will see us through this whole situation, bringing good to us and glory to the Lord.  May we fight the good fight.
