SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: The golden lampstands and tables
Bible Reading
& Meditation Reference: 1Kings 7:48-49;
2Chron. 4:7-8, 19-20
Message of the verses: This is actually the third part of
“Furnishing the temple” which is the fourth main point in Warren Wiersbe book
“Be Responsible,” his commentary on 1Kings.
“48
¶ Solomon made all the furniture which
was in the house of the LORD: the golden altar and the golden table on which
was the bread of the Presence; 49 and
the lampstands, five on the right side and five on the left, in front of the
inner sanctuary, of pure gold; and the flowers and the lamps and the tongs, of
gold.
“7 Then he made the ten golden lampstands in the
way prescribed for them and he set them in the temple, five on the right side
and five on the left. 8 He also made ten
tables and placed them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the
left. And he made one hundred golden bowls.
“19 Solomon also made all the things that were in
the house of God: even the golden altar, the tables with the bread of the
Presence on them, 20 the lampstands with
their lamps of pure gold, to burn in front of the inner sanctuary in the way
prescribed.”
This
setup in the temple was different than in the tabernacle that Moses
constructed, for that only had one lampstand, while the temple had ten, five on
each side. There was only one table for
the showbread in the tabernacle, where there are ten in the temple.
The
lampstands provided light for the priests to do their work while in the holy
place. There must have been bread on
each of these tables that were in the temple.
Jesus said that he was the light, and He also said that He was the bread
of life so one can see the “shadows” in the temple of which Jesus Christ was
the real One that the temple looked forward to have.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: When man first sinned in the garden God put
in place the plan, (which was put in place from eternity past) to bring those
He had chosen for salvation to salvation.
That plan all along was sending the second Person of the Godhead onto
the earth in the form of a man. Jesus
Christ is the God/man who paid for my sins and satisfied the wrath of an angry
God. From Genesis 3:15 on the Scriptures
give pictures of who the Messiah was and what He would do, and the study of the
tabernacle and the temple are pictures of Jesus Christ the Messiah and are well
worth studying in order to see these pictures.
My Steps of
Faith for Today:
1.
I want to be controlled by the Holy Spirit of God so
that I can fulfill the commands that are in the Scriptures so that my life will
bring honor and glory to my Lord and King.
2.
Trust the Lord to continually teach me, and for me
to learn contentment.
3.
Remember that I am in a great battle and in need of
all the Spiritual armor.
4.
Trust the Lord to guide my steps and my path today. 12/26/2010 9:31:52 AM
