SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  The mystery of God

Bible Reading & Meditation                         Reference:  1Kings 8:12-13; 2Chron. 6:1-2

Message of the verses:  “12 ¶  Then Solomon said, "The LORD has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud. 13  "I have surely built You a lofty house, A place for Your dwelling forever."

“1 ¶  Then Solomon said, "The LORD has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud. 2  "I have built You a lofty house, And a place for Your dwelling forever.’”

Today’s SD begins the second main point in Warren Wiersbe’s commentary on 1Kings, “Be Responsible,” and as I look over it there are two sub-points  under this main point entitled “A house of testimony.”

The way that Solomon starts his address seems a bit odd, but whenever one studies it then it is not as odd as it seems.  Solomon is reporting to the Lord what he has done, and what he has done was finish the work that he was given by God to finish.  He is speaking about when Moses was leading the people of Israel to Mt. Sinai and the Lord was in a dark cloud or a thick cloud in order for the people not to be able to see Him, but to be able to hear Him.  The reason for this was because God cannot show Himself to a man and then that man continues to live for the glory of the Lord is so magnificent that His sight will cause death to anyone who sees him unless His glory is shrouded.

Moses finished building the tabernacle, and our Lord finished the work that God gave Him to do.  John the Baptist finished the work that he was assigned by the Lord, and Paul finished his work.  Solomon has now finished his work that was given to him by the Lord, to build the temple.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God has given me work to do as seen in Ephesians 2:10, work that was given to me to do before the foundation of the earth was formed.  I want to finish the work that He has given me to do that I may bring honor and glory to the Lord.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Trust the Lord to show me the work that He has for me to do and then empower me with His Holy Spirit to do this work that He may receive the glory for the job He has empowered me to do.

2.      Remember we are in a Spiritual Battle, and in need of the Spiritual Armor.

3.      Continue to learn contentment.
