SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  The Glory came down

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  1Kings 8:10-11; 2Chron. 5:11-14

Message of the verses:  “10  It happened that when the priests came from the holy place, the cloud filled the house of the LORD, 11  so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.”

“11 ¶  When the priests came forth from the holy place (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves, without regard to divisions), 12  and all the Levitical singers, Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and kinsmen, clothed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps and lyres, standing east of the altar, and with them one hundred and twenty priests blowing trumpets 13  in unison when the trumpeters and the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice accompanied by trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and when they praised the LORD saying," He indeed is good for His lovingkindness is everlasting," then the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, 14  so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.”

This section is all about the glory of the Lord and that phrase is seen many times in the OT and I believe it is first actually seen in Exodus 16:7 “and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, for He hears your grumblings against the LORD; and what are we, that you grumble against us?’”  The glory of the Lord can be followed throughout the entire Bible as it is seen here in Exodus and then when the tabernacle is built the glory of the Lord fills the tabernacle.  It is the cloud or glory of the Lord that lead Israel throughout the wilderness for forty years and then the glory of the Lord left the tabernacle in 1Samuel when Eli was the high priest, but now it returns in the temple that Solomon builds.  Ezekiel saw the glory of the Lord leave the temple in a vision and he also saw it return in the kingdom temple, but in the mean time the Lord Jesus would bring the glory of the Lord to earth: John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”  The glory of the Lord was surely seen on the mount of transfiguration.  The glory, in the form of a cloud left with Jesus Christ as seen when He went back to heaven.  The glory in the form of the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost and He indwells all true believers, and also is seen in the local church, “16 ¶  Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”  The glory can be seen in the universal Church as well, (Ephesians 2:19-22).  Dr. Wiersbe writes:  “Until Jesus comes to take us to the eternal glory, our privilege and responsibility is to bring glory to Him as we serve here on earth.  Each local assembly, worshiping the Lord in spirit and truth, should manifest the glory of the Lord (1Cor. 14:23-25).

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  There can be only on spiritual meaning for my life today, and for every day and that is to bring glory to the Lord through my life here on earth.

When Jesus Christ was baptized the Holy Spirit filled Him without measure, for He could handle that filling, however the Spirit of God does not fill me without measure because I could not handle that kind of filling.  I know that the Holy Spirit filled me with a greater filling a week before Thanksgiving in 2003 at 4:30 in the morning and I am not quite sure how much He filled me but I know that I was different, and still am because of that filling, but I must say that that was even difficult, but very much enjoyable for me and would welcome that again whenever He wants to fill me again.

It is my honor and my job to live a life that will bring honor and glory to my Lord and my prayer is that I will do so.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      Remember that I am in a battle and in need to put on the Lord Jesus Christ for that is what I do when I put on the Spiritual armor.

2.      Live my life so as to bring honor and glory to the Lord.

3.      Continue to learn contentment.

4.      Seek to have the Lord direct my path.
