God's Word is Profitable (2 Tim. 3:16b)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 9-05-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  God’s Word is profitable

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Timothy 3:16b

Message of the verse:  “16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

The Word of God is profitable for 1) teaching (NASB) doctrine (NKJV).  The Scripture provides the comprehensive and complete body of divine truth necessary for life and godliness.”*

2) For reproof, The Scriptures can expose sin, wrong behavior or wrong belief.  3) For correction, this is the only time that this Greek word is used in the NT.  “AV-correction 1;  1) Restoration to an upright or right state 2) Correction, improvement of life or character.”  This quote is from the Strongs Concordance.  4) For instruction in righteousness.  The Scripture provides positive training in godly behavior.

The Scriptures are Profitable.  (2Tim.3: 16b).  They are profitable for doctrine (what is right), for reproof (what is not right), for correction (how to get right), and for instruction in righteousness (how to get right).”  From Dr. Wiersbe’s “Be Faithful”

Meaning for my life today:  As I go through life each day the Word of God is what I need to know what is right, to know what is wrong, to correct me when I am wrong, and to teach me how to get right.  It is all that I need for living a godly life before my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Word of God was profitable to me this day.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To concur fear by the Word of God so I can live my life in obedience to God and His Word.

Memory verses for the week:  2Timothy 3:16,17

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
