Paul's Faithful Friend (2 Tim. 4:12)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 9-20-02

My Worship Time                                                      Focus: Paul’s faithful friend

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Timothy 4:12

Message of the verse:  “12 But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.  Ephesians 6:21 But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you. Colossians 4:7 ¶ As to all my affairs, Tychicus, our beloved brother and faithful servant and fellow bondservant in the Lord, will bring you information. Titus 3:12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.”

These four verses tell all that is known about this man Tychicus, the faith friend of Paul.  Paul has mentioned many names in the letters that he wrote, nearly 100 names in all of his letters.  Some of these were people who had abandon the faith, or left Paul in trouble.  Many, however are people like Tychicus, who is a faithful friend and brother in the Lord and had given his life in service to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The more that I look at life the more that I see that the only life that counts is one that is lived in service to the Lord Jesus Christ, just the kind of life the Tychicus lived.  The things that are written about him would be so wonderful to have written about my life someday.

The Word of God was comforting and insightful to me today.  It was also challenging to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To live a life that is in all ways pleasing to the Lord Jesus Christ.  To be used by Him for service in His Kingdom.

Memory verses for the week:  2Timothy 4:7

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
