The Scriptures are True and Dependable (2 Tim. 3:16a)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 9-04-02

My Worship Time                                  Focus: The Scriptures are true and dependable

Bible Reading & Meditation                         Reference:  2Timothy3: 16a

Message of the verse:  “16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (NIV) 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;  (NAS95).”

This verse and 2Peter 1:20,21, “20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” Are the verses that help to understand how the Bible was written, and how it was written accurately and with error.

The Scriptures are “God-breathed,” as Paul writes in verse sixteen.  The Holy Spirit used the personality and the vocabulary of the person who wrote the different books in the Bible so that the end result was that it was all true.  As Dr. Warren Wiersbe say, “ Not all of the Bible is true, for there are recorded lies in the Bible, however the record of the Bible is true.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is important for me, as well as all believers to know that the Bible is true, it is God-breathed, and that all of it can be trusted.  Paul goes on in the verse to say what it can be trusted for and that is important too.

The Word of God is inspirational to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to read and study the Bible, and to continue to pray with Sandy each day.

Memory verses for the week:  2Timothy 3:16,17

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be completely, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
