God Remembers (Gen. 8:1)

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  God does remember

Bible Reading & Meditation                                           Reference:  Genesis 8:1

            Message of the verse:  “But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark.”  Dr. Wiersbe points out that the word “remember” means to pay attention to, to fulfill a promise and act on behalf of somebody.  God cannot forget anything because He is God, but He does choose not to act on believers sins because of their faith in Jesus Christ.  The penalty for those sins has already been paid for so God has no more wrath for them. In this case of Noah and his family, and all of the animals, God had made a promise to take care of them in the ark and there was no record of God ever speaking to them while they were in the ark for a little longer than a year, but as can be seen in this verse God fulfilled the promises that He had made to them by remembering His promises to them.  God had promised to give Abraham a child from his wife Sarah and it took much longer than a year to fulfill that promise, but He did remember the promise and He did give them a child.
            Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God will never forsake a promise that He has made to me as His child, and I need to remember that, but I also need to remember that God has His own time table on when He will fulfill His promises to me.  God has promised to take me to heaven with Him someday and I will receive a new body and serve Him forever and ever.  God has promised to direct my paths if I trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding.  God has promised never to leave me nor to forsake me.  There are many times when these promises seem like they will never come true, but God is faithful and His promises are all true.
The Word of God has been a great encouragement and refreshment to my heart as I read and studied it this morning.
            My Steps of Faith Today:  Trust the Lord to remember the promises He has made to me as a believer in Jesus Christ, that someday all of them will be fulfilled in my life.
