What Goes Around Comes Around

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                  Focus:  What goes around comes around

Bible Reading and Meditation                      Reference:  Genesis 29:21-30

Message of the verses:  “21  Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife, for my time is completed, that I may go in to her."  22  Laban gathered all the men of the place and made a feast.  23  Now in the evening he took his daughter Leah, and brought her to him; and Jacob went in to her.  24  Laban also gave his maid Zilpah to his daughter Leah as a maid.  25  So it came about in the morning that, behold, it was Leah! And he said to Laban, "What is this you have done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served with you? Why then have you deceived me?"  26  But Laban said, "It is not the practice in our place to marry off the younger before the firstborn.  27  "Complete the week of this one, and we will give you the other also for the service which you shall serve with me for another seven years."  28  Jacob did so and completed her week, and he gave him his daughter Rachel as his wife.  29  Laban also gave his maid Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her maid.  30  So Jacob went in to Rachel also, and indeed he loved Rachel more than Leah, and he served with Laban for another seven years.”

“You shall not marry a woman in addition to her sister as a rival while she is alive, to uncover her nakedness.”  This is what Lev. 18:18 have to say about what Jacob just did, and this was part of the Law of Moses, which God gave to the people of Israel to live by.  God gave them this law in order for them to live a righteous life, and not to take the fun out of their lives as some think.

God had a plan to redeem mankind from their sins and that plan involved Abraham, and his son Isaac, and his son Jacob, and also it involved Leah, who was the first born daughter of Laban, who was Jacob’s uncle, for out of the union of Jacob and Leah would come Judah, and one of his ancestors would be King David, and two of King David’s ancestors would be Joseph and also Mary who would become pregnant with God’s Holy Spirit and the Lord Jesus Christ would be born, the promised Seed of Abraham, the Messiah.

God did all of this in spite of all of the things that these sinful people were doing, however He still does the same things today, as His plan for the people on planet earth cannot be stopped by any one or any force, for God is sovereignty in control of all things. This is how the Proverb speaks to this issue:  “There is no wisdom and no understanding And no counsel against the LORD.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:   Dr. Wiersbe writes in this section that God in His forgiveness forgives the sins of His people as 1John 1:9 says, but God in His government allows us to suffer the painful consequences of our sins.  I would say that my prayer in this case would be that God would give me the wisdom to show me these sufferings I go through because of the sins that I commit.

The Word of God has been convicting to my heart as I read and studied His Word this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To continue to learn contentment from God teachings to me, and to continue to as the Lord to direct my paths as I go through life on planet earth, that I may life it to the glory of God.
