SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time Focus:  Act four:  a victorious confrontation; Sisera is warned

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Judges 4:11-12
Message of the verses:  “11  Now Heber the Kenite had separated himself from the Kenites, from the sons of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh. 12  Then they told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor. “
These verses are hard for me to follow, but I will give it a try.  The Kenites were distant relatives of Jews through Moses, and that most of them lived near the tribe of Judah, which is not involved in this battle.  It is hard to see if Heber was a friend of Sisera or if he was neutral between both nations.  At any rate the Lord used Heber to tell Sisera of the advancement of the army of Israel and this will lure Sisera into a trap which is surely controlled by the Lord.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is a fact that God is in control of all things that God has a plan, and that plan cannot be stopped by anyone, even though at times it seems that God is on the loosing side.  God is not on the loosing side, and I am so very thankful that I am on God’s side even though at times it is hard because of temptations.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Believe in my heart what is true, and that is that God is in charge of all things and will work them out for my good and for His glory.
  2. Put on my spiritual armor and use it when the battle is rough:  the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.
