SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: God gave him wisdom to prepare the army
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Judges 7:15b-18
Message of the verses: “He returned to the camp of Israel and
said, "Arise, for the LORD has given the camp of Midian into your
hands."
16 ¶ He divided the 300 men into three companies,
and he put trumpets and empty pitchers into the hands of all of them, with
torches inside the pitchers. 17 He said
to them, "Look at me and do likewise. And behold, when I come to the
outskirts of the camp, do as I do. 18
"When I and all who are with me blow the trumpet, then you also
blow the trumpets all around the camp and say, ‘For the LORD and for Gideon.’”
This SD
begins the third important principle of faith that can be learned from this
chapter. This third principle that comes
from “Be Available” which is the commentary from Warren Wiersbe on Judges, and
he entitles it God honors our faith, and this is the first sub-point under this
section that I’m dealing with today.
Gideon was
a different man when he came back to the camp, the camp of the Midianites is
where he had heard that Gideon was going to defeat them. God had told him that this was going to
happen to him when He first came and talked with him in the winepress, but now
Gideon’s eyes were open and he could see the Lord in action and so he came back
to the small army and, with confidence in his new faith in the Lord gave
wonderful orders to these men. “Faith
sees the invisible and does the impossible.”
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
Spiritual meaning for my life today: Paul writes that the things that were written
in the OT were written for me, a NT believer, and so it is with this portion of
the the story of Gideon, and it increases my faith in the Lord.
My Steps of Faith for
Today:
- Trust the Lord for the outcome of what He will do at our local church.
