SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: God gave Gideon another promise
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Judges 7:9
Message of the verse: “9 ¶
Now the same night it came about that the LORD said to him, "Arise,
go down against the camp, for I have given it into your hands.”
As stated
in the first SD on chapter seven of Judges that there are three important
principles of faith here and the first one has been covered in earlier
SD’s. The second principle of faith is
that “God encourages our faith” of which there are two points under this second
principle and in today’s SD I am covering this first sup-point.
Now the
Lord had already given Gideon three signs to confirm to him that he was to
attack and bring victory over the Midianites through the power of the
Lord. The three signs were the fire out
of the rock, the wet fleece, and the dry fleece.
The Lord
knows that we are just made of dust and that we are weak, but the Lord uses the
weak things to bring honor and glory to Himself. Paul spoke of this in his second letter to
the Corinthians when he penned: “And He
has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in
weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”
In this
verse God tells Gideon to go down against the camp because He has given it into
Gideon’s hands. This was similar when
the Lord told Joshua to go against the people of Jericho for He had given them into Joshua’s hands.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: This quote from Warren Wiersbe’s commentary
on Judges will be my spiritual meaning for my life today: “Christians who believe God’s promises and
see Him do great things are humbled to know that the God of the universe cares
about them and is on their side. They
claim no merit in their faith or honor from their victories. All the glory goes to the Lord because He did
it all!”
My Steps of Faith for
Today:
- I want to be humble in the sight of the Lord.
