SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  Coronation

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Samuel 2:1-4a

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶  Then it came about afterwards that David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up." So David said, "Where shall I go up?" And He said, "To Hebron." 2  So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite. 3  And David brought up his men who were with him, each with his household; and they lived in the cities of Hebron. 4  Then the men of Judah came and there anointed David king over the house of Judah.”
This would be the second of three times that David would be anointed to be king, for the first time was by Samuel, and this time was by the elders of Judah to anoint him king over Judah and the third and last time would be over the entire nation of Israel.  It was noted in the commentary by Dr. Wiersbe that Judah seemed to be like a nation of their own and this would be the case after the reign of Solomon.
The first thing David did, and this seemed to be his practice, was to seek the Lord to find out if he should go back to Judah and also where he should go.  The Lord made it clear to him to go to Hebron, so he and his wives, and the men and their families who were with him moved to the surrounding towns of Hebron.  Hebron has rich history for near there is where Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob and Leah are buried.  This was a portion of the inheritance of Caleb, and David’s second wife came from the descendants of Caleb.  David was not a fugitive any longer and this was the first time in ten years, and I am sure that David was relieved of this.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Patience is the order of the day when it comes to my spiritual meaning for today from this passage.  David had been waiting for ten years to stop being a fugitive, and this took patience.
Another thing I can learn from this passage is that David inquired of the Lord before he moved to Judah and this was a big decision to make.  I have been inquiring of the Lord as to what to do about a possible job in Kauai, and believe that if this job comes about that it will be of the Lord and unless the Lord closes the door we will go.
David was anointed by Samuel before he began to reign as king, and this is similar to me and all believers of Jesus Christ, and even of Christ too, for Dr. Wiersbe points out that Jesus was anointed privately and is now awaiting to return to earth to reign in the 1000 year kingdom that is promised for Him to reign over on earth.  I was anointed by the Holy Spirit when I was born-again, and the Bible teaches that believers will judge angels, and they will be kings and priests so in that respect I am to patiently wait for all of this to come about.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.       Trust the Lord to bring about the things that He has promised and for me to continue to learn patience as I wait upon the Lord.
2.      Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
3.      Trust the Lord to protect me with the spiritual armor in the battle today.
4.      Trust the Lord to show me any sins buried in my heart that I may confess them.
5.       Trust the Lord to teach me and for me to learn contentment.
