SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  He addresses the daughters of Jerusalem

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2 Samuel 1:24

Message of the verse:  “24  "O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, Who clothed you luxuriously in scarlet, Who put ornaments of gold on your apparel.”
I have written and said that Saul was a king that for the people, the people wanted a king like Saul, while David was a king that was after God’s own heart.  With that said Saul did bring stability to the nation of Israel as he brought the tribes together like they had never been before and because of that the financial stability of Israel was better than before.  I am not so sure that the spiritual condition of Israel was better under Saul, and that seems to me more important than the financial stability.  Dr. Wiersbe writes that perhaps David was writing about the officers’ wives when he wrote this portion of his lament about Saul and his sons.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Keeping things in perspective as far as what is most important in my life should be a top priority.  Spiritual things are more important than financial things, and this does not mean that financial things are not important for the Bible has a lot to say about money and how to handle it.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.                  Realizing that I am in a battle I want to put on the spiritual armor to be able to stand:  the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.
2.      Because I realize that the Lord is in control of all things and even though I am going through some difficult times at this point in my life, and believing that these can make me stronger, I trust the Lord to teach me contentment through all of these difficult situations.
3.      Knowing that I sin and at times do not realize it I ask the Spirit of the Lord to search my heart for hidden sins that I may realize them, confess them, and seek the Lord’s forgiveness.
4.      Because I realize that I need direction in my life every day that comes from the Lord I ask the Lord to direct my path this day.
