David Gives a Righteous Judgment from 2 Samuel 1:13-16

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                                  Focus:  A righteousness judgment

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  2Samuel 1:13-16

Message of the verses:  “13 David said to the young man who told him, "Where are you from?" And he answered, "I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite." 14 Then David said to him, "How is it you were not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the LORD’S anointed?" 15 And David called one of the young men and said, "Go, cut him down." So he struck him and he died. 16 David said to him, "Your blood is on your head, for your mouth has testified against you, saying, ’I have killed the LORD’S anointed.’”

The reason that David killed this young man was because of what came out of his mouth, for he said that he had killed Saul and whether or not he did kill Saul did not matter at this time because he said that he did and also because he was an Amalekite this also was cause for him to die, for Saul was suppose to kill all of them as was direct to him from Samuel who got his message from the Lord.
This story would have gotten out not only to those of Israel, but David was living in the Philistine territory at this time and therefore could have been putting his life on the line as Saul was an enemy of the Philistines.  However this would be good for those of the house of Israel as they would realize that David was not happy when Saul died realizing that Saul was not David’s enemy.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Jesus said that out of the heart the mouth speaks and so when David did what he did to vindicate the death of Saul because Saul was the Lord’s anointed this was what he really had going on in his heart.  Even though Saul was trying to kill David, David still cared about the office of the king and still mourned when Saul died and I believe this was genuine.
As stated in yesterday’s SD that is the kind of heart that I wish to have, one that is content with what God brings into my life and content with God bringing to power those He wants in power.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.      To have a heart like David.
2.      To give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
3.      To trust the Lord to guide my path.
4.      To trust the Lord to give me the grace for what I have planned for today.
5.      To be protected in the battle today with the spiritual armor.
6.      To continue to learn contentment.
7.      To ask the Lord to search my heart for unconfessed sin.     8/13/2010 7:40:13 AM
