SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: God will answer our prayers
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: 1John 5:14-15
Message of the verse: 14
¶ This is the confidence which we have
before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And
if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the
requests which we have asked from Him.
(NAS95) 14 ¶ And how bold and free we then become in his
presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening.
15 And if we’re
confident that he’s listening, we know that what we’ve asked for is as good as
ours. (Message)
In these
two verses John is writing about prayer, and the confidence that the believer
has to come to the Lord with his requests.
Confidence means that we have the “free speech” to come to the Lord with
our requests, and our requests must be in His will, as verse fourteen
said. The next question is what is the
will of God? The Word of God is full of
the will of God, and one thing for sure a believer must come to the Lord with a
clean heart, for that is in the Word of God as being the will of God. Praying in the will of God is asking for the
desires of the believer’s heart, and if the believer is walking close to the
Lord his desires will be that of what the Lord wants for him. To determine the will of God for the believer
he needs to look into the Word of God and search out for the promises of God,
and also he needs to depend upon the Spirit of God to lead and to guide him,
and he needs also to look at the circumstances around him to help determine the
will of God for him.
God does
not always reveal the answer to our prayers the instant we ask Him, and maybe
because the timing is not correct so that it would actually harm us if He answered
it right away. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will
give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it. This is from Psalm 37: 4, 5
Spiritual meaning for my life; Prayer is
the life blood of the believer, and it is something that I should do far better
than I do. Praying with my wife last
evening was the highlight of the day for me, and I need to make sure that we do
it more.
The Word of God was both refreshing and convicting to my heart.
My Steps of Faith
Today: Pray better, and pray with my
wife more in 2005 than we ever have before in a year.
