The Law is Useful from 1 Tim. 1:8

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 2-12-02

My Worship Time                                          Focus: The Law is Useful

Bible Reading & Meditation                         Reference:  1Timothy 1:8

Message of the verse:  Paul says that the law is good, and that word could be translated useful also.  He goes on to say if one uses the law lawfully then it is good.  The question comes up then how is the law good or useful?  The Law was never intended to save anyone from his or her sins.  The Law reflects God’s holy will and righteous standard.  The Law is used as a tutor to show people that they can never obey it and thus their need for a Savior.  It is very worthwhile noting that while Jesus Christ was upon the earth that He keep the Law perfectly, and no one has ever done that.  These are some of the reasons why the Law is good and useful.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  It is easy to fall under the trap of trying, on my own to keep the law without relying on the Spirit of Good.  I can never keep all of the law, but by God’s grace, and by His Spirit I can keep the Law.  Because of Jesus Christ’s death God now looks on me as I have always keep the Law perfectly.  What a wonderful Savior I have.

The Word of God was refreshing to me today.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Well because the day is almost over I want to trust the Lord to give me a good nights sleep and wake me up refreshed and ready to face the new day that God gives.
