God's Mercy Displayed from 1 Tim. 1:16

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR 02/25/2002

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  God’s mercy displayed

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  1Timothy 1:16

Message of the verse:  God’s mercy was on display in the life of Paul.  Paul said in the 15th verse that he was the “chief” of sinners.  Because of this people can look at these verses and say that if God demonstrated his love, mercy, and grace with Paul then He will do the same for them.  Paul says that Jesus has shown “all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  What a wonderful truth this is to know because when I pray for those sixteen lost sinners each day I have the assurance that none of them is to sinful to ever be saved because of the example of Paul.  I did not think that this verse meant this however after looking at the commentaries and studying the verse again I do believe that this is the meaning of this verse that Paul was indeed the “chief of sinners.”  Another thing this verse says to me then is that God is the only one who can judge things like that.  Maybe I think someone else is a worse sinner, but God is the One who does the judging.

The Word of God brought enlightenment to me tonight.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Because I have changed my schedule of doing my devotions I do believe that this will have to be my steps of faith for tomorrow.  I ask for help to get to the Church to do my work with the men there.  I ask for strength and love from God to overcome fear.

Memory verse for the Week:  Psalm 86:11:  Teach me your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.
