SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                 Focus:  Ai’s king slain

Bible Reading & Meditation                                  Reference:  Joshua 8:23,29

Message of the verses:  “23 But they took alive the king of Ai and brought him to Joshua.  He hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening; and at sunset Joshua gave command and they took his body down from the tree and threw it at the entrance of the city gate, and raised over it a great heap of stones that stands to this day.”
            22.  "If a man has committed a sin worthy of death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, 23  his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (for he who is hanged is accursed of God), so that you do not defile your land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance.”  These two verses are from the book of Deuteronomy chapter 21 and verses 22 & 23.  They explain what was to be done in this circumstance and this is exactly what Joshua did with the king of Ai.
It was only a few days ago that Israel while in defeat cleansed the sin of Achan by stoning him and making a similar heap of stones over him.  By obeying the Lord they were able to begin anew and complete the victory over Ai and thus kill their king and make a heap of stones over his dead body.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  “The Christian life is a series of new beginnings.”  This is a quote that Dr. Wiersbe has used in a number of his “Be” books and I think that it is quoted from an old Scottish pastor.  This quote has found great meaning for me in my walk with the Lord because of the truth that is found in it, for when I sin I need to confess my sin to the Lord and then begin again because of the grace of God in sending His Precious Son to die on the cross for me, and undeserving sinner.  Praise the Lord for His wonderful gift and grace.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  2. Put on the spiritual armor.
  3. Continue to learn contentment.
  4. Trust the Lord to guide my path.
  5. Think on things above and not on the things of this world.
  6. Continue to pray for the people in our life group and our Bible study.
  7. Pray for Roy Wills and talk to him about being accountable to him for a clean mind and thoughts.
