Joshua Wrote the Law on Stones (Josh. 8:32-33)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Joshua wrote the Law on stones

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Joshua 8:32-33

Message of the verses:  “32  He wrote there on the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he had written, in the presence of the sons of Israel. 33  All Israel with their elders and officers and their judges were standing on both sides of the ark before the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, the stranger as well as the native. Half of them stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, just as Moses the servant of the LORD had given command at first to bless the people of Israel.”
As stated in an earlier SD Joshua was doing what Moses had commanded in the Law found in Deuteronomy 27:1-8, where it is found to do exactly what Joshua was doing.  Dr. Wiersbe states that in the Middle East of that day when kings would win a great victory they would write about it on stones covered with plaster, but in the case of Israel they were writing the Law of God on these stones covered with plaster, for the God of the Law was the One who had given them these great victories.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Today the laws of God are written on my heart by the Holy Spirit and that makes them an internal thing to obey out of love for my Savior for dying for me on the cross in order for me to have eternal life.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my steps today.
  3. Put on the spiritual armor to be protected in the battle today.
  4. Continue to learn contentment.
  5. Remember the truth of my memory verse for this week.  (Phil. 4:8)

Memory verse for the week:                                               Philippians 4:8

  1. And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter.  Fix your thoughts what is true and honorable and right.  Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.  (NLT)
