SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: The instructions of the Lord
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Joshua 6:3-5
Message of the verses: “3
"You shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the
city once. You shall do so for six days. 4
"Also seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns
before the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven
times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 "It shall be that when they make a long
blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the
people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down
flat, and the people will go up every man straight ahead.’”
The story
in these verses is very familiar with many people for it is told to children by
their Sunday school teachers. I want to
comment on what Dr. Wiersbe points out about the number seven in this section
of verses. There are seven priests with
seven trumpets of the ram’s hour, and on the seventh day they marched around
the city seven times and then the seven priests blew the seven horns. Seven is a number that means complete or
perfection and if one looks at the creation of the world God rested on the
seventh day for His work was complete and or perfect.
There were
two different types of trumpets used by Israel and the ram’s horn was
sounded for celebration, while the silver trumpet was used to signal the camp
that something important was going to happen.
When the walls fell down it was a celebration not a call to war for God
had already given the victory to Israel.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: God has given all believers victory through
the cross of Christ, for when He died He defeated the world, the flesh, and the
Devil, the three enemies of God and man so I am fighting from victory and for
victory.
My Steps of Faith for
Today:
- Romans
12:1-2 “1 ¶ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by
the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but
be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is
that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
- Proverbs 3:5-6 “5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
- Psalm 139:23-24 “23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; 24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.”
- Philippians 4:11 “11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.”
- Ephesians 6:14-18 “14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.”
- Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
