The Investigation (Josh. 7:16-18)

SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                 Focus:  The investigation

Bible Reading & Meditation                                  Reference:  Joshua 7:16-18

Message of the verses:  “16 ¶  So Joshua arose early in the morning and brought Israel near by tribes, and the tribe of Judah was taken. 17  He brought the family of Judah near, and he took the family of the Zerahites; and he brought the family of the Zerahites near man by man, and Zabdi was taken. 18  He brought his household near man by man; and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, was taken.”
One wonders what it was that was going on in the mind of Achan while this process was going on.  I would suppose that he began to see the light of what was going on, that he surely remembered that he had take what was not his, it was the Lord’s material that he has stolen, and I’m thinking that he probably began to sweat and get a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach.
What were the relatives of the men who had been killed when going against Ai thinking when they saw all of this?  They may have been thinking that surely your sin will find you out.
Reading from Psalm ten:  “6  He says to himself, "I will not be moved; Throughout all generations I will not be in adversity.  11  He says to himself, "God has forgotten; He has hidden His face; He will never see it.  13  Why has the wicked spurned God? He has said to himself, "You will not require it.’”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I know in my heart that there is nothing that God has not seen, and I am sure that there have been many things in my life that cause pain for the Lord, and that there are some things that have caused Him to smile down on me for following His commands because of the love that I have in my heart for Him and for His Son who took my punishment upon Himself so that I could have eternal life and one day be with Him where I will be forever and ever.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. As I was reading one of my favorite sections of the Scripture, that of Luke twenty-four a verse came to the forefront of my mind as it did on another occasion, but this time I want to write it here as a step of faith today and hopefully every time that I read His Word:  “45  Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.”  I realize that of myself that I cannot understand the things that are in the Word of God and am in need every time that open His Word that I ask the Holy Spirit to open my eyes to see wonderful thing out of His Word.
