SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                                                      Focus:  Treachery

Bible Reading & Meditation                                     Reference:  1Samuel 26:1-4

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶  Then the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah, saying, "Is not David hiding on the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?" 2  So Saul arose and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having with him three thousand chosen men of Israel, to search for David in the wilderness of Ziph. 3  Saul camped in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, beside the road, and David was staying in the wilderness. When he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness, 4  David sent out spies, and he knew that Saul was definitely coming.”

This SD begins the fourth person that David is involved in as I go through chapters twenty-five and twenty-six of 1Samuel.  This time it is with Saul again and even through there are similarities between this experience with Saul and the one that David had with him in the cave they are two different occasions.
The Ziphites were from the tribe of Judah and were descendants of Caleb, which makes one wonder why they would be on the side of Saul and not David since David was from the tribe of Judah.  At any rate that must have thought that they could get into the good graces of the king and so they told Saul where David was hiding.
David had learned some things with the incident with Nabal, that revenge was up to the Lord and that Abigail assured him that the Lord had chosen him to be king, so this time it would be easier to allow Saul to live than the first time when David had the same opportunity.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  As I look at two leaders in my life that are a great disappointment to me, and at times would like to see harm come to at least one of them, I have to stop and realize just as David realized that the Lord is in control and His times are always perfect, and that I am to wait upon the Lord to work out His plan, and to be faithful to the Lord.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

1.       Trust the Lord to care for these problem people in my life as only he can and change my heart to trust Him more and more to care for these things.
