Another Earthquake (Rev. 8:5-6)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR
05/03/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  Another earthquake

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelations 8:5-6

Message of the verse:  “5 Then the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it to the earth; and there followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an earthquake.  6 And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound them.”
It seems that the angel took the same censer that he used to start the fire on the  same alter where the incense was burning and filled it again with fire in order to throw it upon the earth.  When he did this there seems to be something like a great thunder and lighting storm followed by another earthquake.  This judgment does not seem to be directly a part of the trumpet judgments, although in verse six the seven angels who had these seven trumpets made themselves ready to sound them and begin the judgments that would follow.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  God will always judge sin because it is against His Holy nature and it is what He must do because He is holy.  In a similar way I am to confess my sin to Him because if I do not then I can be out of fellowship with Him.

The Word of God was convicting to my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Ask the Holy Spirit to search my heart for unconfessed sin.
