The Corrupted Church (Rev. 2:18)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR

02/26/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  The corrupted Church

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelations 2:18

Message of the verse:  8 ¶ “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this:  (NASB95) 18 ¶ And to the angel of the church in Thyatira say: These things says the Son of God, whose eyes are like a flame of fire, and his feet like polished brass:  (BBE)

For the most part this message to the church at Thyatira was a very harsh message, one that was the longest of the seven letters and it was written to the smallest of the churches, and at least this was the smallest in the size of the city where they were located.  This is the only time that the name “Son of God is used in the book of Revelations, and it may be because the city had a temple for the “sun god.”

The rest of the description of Christ came from Revelations 1:14b and 15, as all of the descriptions of Christ come from:  “and His eyes were like a flame of fire.  His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.”  The verse notes on these verses will explain what the meaning of this is, but it certainly has to do with judgment.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The Lord Jesus Christ has given all for His Church and He will also judge His Church while He is upon this earth.

The Word of God was challenging to my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Trust the Lord to give me the correct words to say for the message that I am to give tomorrow.
