The Next Judgments Begin Soon (Rev. 8:1)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR
05/31/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  The next judgments are about to begin.

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelations 8:1

Message of the verse:  “When the Lamb broke the seventh seal, there was silence throughout heaven for about half an hour.”
When the seventh seal is broken this will begin another set of judgments called the trumpet judgments, and when the seventh trumpet judgment is broken still another, the last set of judgments will begin.  In Jewish history trumpets are very important, all the way back to the beginning of the nation’s existence, when God called them out of Egypt to become a nation that would serve Him.  At the rapture of the Church there will be a trumpet sounded, and when John was called up to heaven to receive this book there was a trumpet sounded.  When reading Numbers chapter 10 one can see three reasons why trumpets were blown in Israel:  1) to call the people together (vv. 1-8); they would announce a war (v. 9); and they would announce special times (v. 10).
As far as the half hour silence in heaven that John writes about, this could very well be how long it seemed to him that this silence was.  This was definitely the laul before the storm, for when these judgments began there surely would not be silence upon the earth.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I think that silence is appropriate at times and it is hard for me to be silent on too many occasions.  I need to learn to be silent.

The Word of God was convicting to my heart as I read it this morning.
