What John Saw (Rev. 1:13)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR

02/01/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  What John Saw

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Rev 1:13

Message of the verse:  13  and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash.  (NAS95)  13 And standing in the middle of the lampstands was the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest.  (NLT)

The verse says that Christ was in the middle of the lampstands, and the lampstands are representing of the Church, so Christ is seen as in the middle of the Churches.  John’s description is similar to one found in Daniel’s book that of one like the son of man.  The robe that He is wearing could speak His righteousness, and gold most always speaks of Deity.  John is beginning to describe what it is that is going on at the beginning of this revelation, and will continue to describe the appearance of Christ.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  I would say that the most meaningful thing that comes out of this verse is that Jesus Christ is standing in the midst of His Churches, and this gives encouragement to my heart to know that nothing will happen to His bride without Him being involved in it.

The Word of God has brought encouragement to my heart as I read it this morning.
