My Worship Time Focus: Jesus The Head of the Church
Bible Reading &
Meditation Reference: Rev 1:11
Message of the verse: 11
Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest,
write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus , and unto Smyrna ,
and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis ,
and unto Philadelphia , and unto Laodicea . (AV) 11
It said, "Write down what you see, and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus , Smyrna , Pergamum , Thyatira, Sardis ,
Philadelphia , and Laodicea ." (NLT)
Verse
eleven is the beginning of what John heard, and the voice was that of Jesus
Christ who spoke to John. Some of the
different manuscripts that our English translations come from do not have “I am
Alpha and Omega” in them. Jesus Christ
is speaking here and this was written of God the Father in verse eight, so it
would be impossible to believe that it were not true of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the beginning and the end of
all things, as He was part of creation along with the Father and the Holy
Spirit, and He will be part of the ending of what all humans has seen while
living on this earth. Jesus Christ is
also the first and last concerning the prophet Word, as all prophecy has to do
with Him, for He is the Spirit of Prophecy as will be seen latter on in this
letter. This letter is “The Revelation
of Jesus Christ,” as described in the first verse by John.
Jesus’
first words to John are a command for him to write in a book what he is seeing
to seven churches in Asia, or Asia Minor . Jesus then gives John the names of the seven
churches, which are seven real churches that existed in John’s day. Some has written that these seven churches
represent different parts of the Church age, in that the things that are
written about them in this book are the general way in which the church’s were
in a particular part of the Church age.
Whether or not if this is true there are many lessons that can be
learned from Christ’s Words to these seven churches. One of the most important things to be
learned is the Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, and that He cares, and
is involved in each of His Churches here on earth.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: It is most comforting to me to be reminded of
the position that Jesus Christ holds as Head of the Church, and thus He will
protect the Church, because He is the One who suffered and died for her. The Church is described in other places in
Scripture as the bride of Christ, and when you look at how a husband is to care
for, and love his wife, you can tell how Christ cares for and love His Church.
The Word of God was an encouragement to me as I read and
studied it this morning.
My Steps of Faith
Today: Trust in the Lord with all of
my heart and lean not upon my own understanding, in all of my ways acknowledge
Him, and He has promised to direct my path.
Trust the Lord for a wonderful worship service this morning.
