More Prayers (Rev. 8:2-3)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR
06/02/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  More prayers

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelations 8:2-3

Message of the verse:  “2  And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.  3  Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne.”
Verse two is speaking of the angles who will be blowing the trumpets so that the judgments will take place.  There are seven angels with seven trumpets.
Verse three speaks of something very Jewish as far as their ceremony and practice goes that was practiced in the OT.  The priests would take fire from the alter, or hot coals, and then start the fire to burn incense to the Lord.  This was done two times a day, in the morning and in the evening.  It is thought by some that Aaron’s sons who died by offering strange fire was doing this procedure the wrong way when the Lord killed them.
The incense is a picture of the prayers of the saints that come up to God as a pleasing aroma.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Prayer is such an important part of the believers walk with the Lord, and prayer is very hard work.  It is easy to forget my prayer time in the morning when I would be most effective in doing it right after I do my devotions.  I certainly need to be a better prayer warrior, and take it much more seriously because of the importance it holds.

The Word of God has brought conviction to my heart as I read it this morning.

My Steps of Faith Today:  To have a better prayer time with the Lord.
