Compromise Means Judgment (Rev. 2:22)

SPIRITUAL DIARY FOR

03/02/2005

My Worship Time                  Focus:  Compromise means judgment

Bible Reading & Meditation             Reference:  Revelations 2:22

Message of the verse: “Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds.”  (NAS95)  “See, now, how I throw her into bed and her lovers with her, and I win send them terrible suffering unless they repented of what she has done.”  (Philips)

The Lord said that He has given her time to repent, and if she did not then He would put her onto a sick bed which seems a likely punishment for her since she is described as a woman who has committed spiritual adultery.  I would think that some would read the part which says the God will put her into great tribulation as meaning that she would go into the seven years of tribulation just before Christ returns.  There are some believe that this verse is describing the Roman church with all of its rituals and things like that. This could be true as the Roman church has been around for many years.  Again the Lord does give her a chance to repent of her sins before this is carried out.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Again this verse is teaching a believer should not compromise his correct beliefs in Christ or big problems will come his way.

The Word of God has brought conviction to my heart as I studied it this evening.

My Steps of Faith Today:  Do not compromise, and if I do then I must agree with the Lord that it is sin and, by His grace not do it again.
