SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  A warning for God’s servants

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 34:1-8

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶  Now Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, 2  and all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah as far as the western sea, 3  and the Negev and the plain in the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. 4  Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants’; I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there."

5 ¶  So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. 6  And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day. 7  Although Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died, his eye was not dim, nor his vigor abated. 8  So the sons of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses came to an end.”

Moses died and the Lord along with Michael buried him and no one has ever found the grave where he was buried in.  Moses did not enter the Promised Land because of the sin that he committed when he hit the rock to give the children of Israel water instead of speaking to it as the Lord told him to do.  Moses was doing this in his own strength and giving glory to him and also Aaron instead of giving glory to the Lord and that was the sin that he committed.  Moses prayed and asked the Lord on numerous occasions about letting him go into the Promised Land, but the Lord would not allow this to happen.

Moses was the man that the Lord used to give the Jewish religion to the children of Israel and there are some Jews today that will not read any other portion of Scripture except the five books of Moses.

As stated in and earlier SD Moses was permitted to go into the Promised Land on the Mt. of transfiguration with Jesus and Elijah and also James, John, and Peter, but as before he died he was only allowed to view it from a distance.

Jude is the one who speaks of Michael disputing with Satan about the body of Moses and he did not rebuke Satan but said “The Lord rebuke you.”  What the confrontation is all about is not said anywhere in the Scriptures.  Michael’s name means “Who is like God?” and Satan said, “I will be like the Most High.”

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  Moses was a great man that the Lord used to accomplish what He wanted to accomplish through him because Moses was faithful and he was humble.  God is God and He is not a respecter of people as seen in the case of Moses’ sin against Him and so this teaches me to do the things that are commanded for me to do as best I can and depend upon the Lord through His Holy Spirit to lead me and to guide me.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Put on the spiritual armor:  the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.
  2. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  3. Trust the Lord go guide my path today.
  4. Trust the Holy Spirit to search my heart for unconfessed sin and keep a short list with the Lord.
  5. Continue to learn contentment.
