SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Lost property & Emergencies

Bible Reading & Meditation                        Reference:  Deuteronomy 22:1-4

Message of the verses:  “1 ¶  "You shall not see your countryman’s ox or his sheep straying away, and pay no attention to them; you shall certainly bring them back to your countryman. 2  "If your countryman is not near you, or if you do not know him, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall remain with you until your countryman looks for it; then you shall restore it to him. 3  "Thus you shall do with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with anything lost by your countryman, which he has lost and you have found. You are not allowed to neglect them. 4  "You shall not see your countryman’s donkey or his ox fallen down on the way, and pay no attention to them; you shall certainly help him to raise them up.”

This begins a new section in Warren Wiersbe’s book which he calls “Loving one’s neighbors,” and it he speaks of different ways of how one can love their neighbor, something that is very important to the Lord.

The first ways to love one’s neighbor that Moses spoke about was taking care of their animals that have wondered off when they were not at home.  There were no fences in the land of Israel and so it was easy for the animals to wonder off.  This happened to the first king of Israel and the story is told in 1 Samuel.  The neighbor was to take care of the animal until the neighbor returned.  The second point Moses brings up is similar and that is if a neighbors work animal has fallen down then those who are around them should help to pick up the animal so it could continue to go on its way.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  These are wonderful laws to learn even today, for surely as a believer in Jesus Christ I too am to offer my help to those who are in need, and perhaps with this kindness the Lord would open up a way for me to spread the good news of the Gospel to the one whom I am helping, for that is the best way to love a neighbor.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
  2. Put on the spiritual armor; the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness; the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit.
  3. Be continually filled with the Holy Spirit.
  4. Continue to learn contentment.
  5. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  6. Be a good neighbor.

Memory verses for the week:                                                          Ephesians 3:14-17

14.  For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

15.  form whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

16.  that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

17.  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
