SPIRITUAL DIARY
My Worship Time Focus: Wisdom for the king
Bible Reading & Meditation Reference: Deuteronomy 17:18-20
Message of the verses: “18
"Now it shall come about when he sits on the throne of his kingdom,
he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll in the presence of
the Levitical priests. 19 "It shall
be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to
fear the LORD his God, by carefully observing all the words of this law and
these statutes, 20 that his heart may
not be lifted up above his countrymen and that he may not turn aside from the
commandment, to the right or the left, so that he and his sons may continue
long in his kingdom in the midst of Israel.”
Dr.
Wiersbe writes that the most important thing that the king could do was to
follow the Lord’s law, as he was to make a copy for himself and read from it so
that he would know all that the Lord commanded and then follow these commands. By doing this he would then be humble and
follow all that the Lord had commanded him so that he would not be lifted up
above his countrymen. If he did not do
this, and many of their kings did not, then he would think himself better than
his countrymen and would do things that were against the Law of the Lord.
Spiritual meaning for my life today: I think that since the Lord has made me a
king and a priest that I should read His Word each and everyday and I also am
to be humble remembering that all that I have has come from the Lord and so I
am to praise the Lord for all that He has given me, which most of all are the
wonderful spiritual blessings that I have because I am in Christ.
My Steps of Faith for Today:
- Give myself to the Lord for worship and service.
- Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
- Continue to learn contentment.
- Be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Memory verses for the week: 1John 2:15-17;
1 Cor. 1:30-31
1 John Verses:
15.
Do not love the world nor the things in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the
love of the Father is not in him.
16.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the
flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the
Father, but is from the world.
17.
The world is passing away, and also its lusts;
but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
1 Cor. Verses:
30.
But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who
became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and
redemption,
31.
so that, just as it is written, “Let him who
boasts, boast in the Lord.”
