SPIRITUAL DIARY

My Worship Time                              Focus:  Confession of obedience

Bible Reading & Meditation               Reference:  Deuteronomy 26:16-19

Message of the verses:  “16 ¶  "This day the LORD your God commands you to do these statutes and ordinances. You shall therefore be careful to do them with all your heart and with all your soul. 17  "You have today declared the LORD to be your God, and that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His ordinances, and listen to His voice. 18  "The LORD has today declared you to be His people, a treasured possession, as He promised you, and that you should keep all His commandments; 19  and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise, fame, and honor; and that you shall be a consecrated people to the LORD your God, as He has spoken.’”

I think that these verses can also apply to all those who have been born-again, who have trusted the Lord Jesus Christ alone for their salvation.  I realize that there are different circumstances today as to when Moses gave these words to the children of Israel, and that these words are still in affect with the children of Israel even today, but the principles that are found here apply to God’s children even today.

In my SD two days ago Warren Wiersbe spoke of stewardship, and stewardship does not only apply to money and the things that God has given to His children, but it also applies to the lives of His children.  Just as a person does not give a tithe and an offering to the Lord and do whatever he wants to do with the rest of his money, so a person does not take time to do his daily devotions and then think that he can do with the rest of his time in that day what he wants to do with it.  This can be seen here in these verses, verses that speak of obedience to the Lord, not just in doing devotions and praying and attending church services, but worshiping the Lord is 24/7.

Spiritual meaning for my life today:  The Lord has truly spoken to my heart this morning even before doing this SD with the things that were going to be in this SD, I believe in order to reinforce what I would be reading about.  There are far too many times whenever I do my devotions that I think that well I have fulfilled my commitment to the Lord and now I can live like I want to, and that is sinful and that is wrong, for as Romans 12:1-2 speak of I am giving myself to the Lord for worship and service for my entire life because of what He has done for me as Paul explained in the first eleven chapters of Romans.  I do this out of love and thankfulness to the Lord who loved me before I could love Him, and who has taken care of my biggest problem, the problem of sin.

My Steps of Faith for Today:

  1. Give myself to the Lord of worship and service for all of this day.
  2. Trust the Lord to guide my path today.
  3. Keep a short list with the Lord and ask Him to search my heart for sin.
  4. Learn to have contentment in my life.

Memory verses for the week:                                  1 John 2:15-17

15.  Do not love the world nor the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him.

16.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

17.  The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
